Sturt National Park, NSW, Australia |
Here a few photos taken at Sturt NP. It is a very large park, located in the north-western corner of NSW, roughly between Tibooburra and Cameron Corner. It preserves part of the arid interior of Australia, with sandy plains covered with grass and/or low shrubs, gibber country and granite outcrops. Note that some photos presented on this website are available FOR SALE.
View from the mesa at Jumpup Lookout to the south; in most years the
lower country would be a clay pan, but after two consecutive years of
good rainfall, there were plenty of grasses and shrubs
Example of scrub
in an arid environment: Gidgee
trees (Acacia cambagei) lining a dry creekbed in Sturt NP
The Shingleback is an animal that can often be seen on the road
One of the bird species that can be found in gibber country is the Australian Pratincole
