Northern Scrub-robins are thrush-sized, mostly ground-dwelling
birds.
They have a white face with a black, near-vertical bar through
each eye, a light-grey front (from chest to belly) and neck and
a greyish-brown cap, mantle and back. Rump and tail are rusty,
white undertail coverts and vent are white.
The wings are boldly patterned black and white, with two white
wing bars and white edge lining on the flight feathers.
The irises are dark-brown. The bill is black; legs and long-toed
feet are pink.

Northern Scrub-robins are endemic to Australia. Their range is
limited to the eastern near-coastal fringe of Cape York peninsula
in far north-eastern Australia, as far southwards as about Iron
Range NP, QLD.
Northern Scrub-robins have a preference for
monsoon forest,
vine thickets and the fringes of
rainforest,
in particular with dense leaf litter.
