Physical description Click here for a physical description White-breasted Robins are medium-sized robins. They have a light-grey front (throat, breast, belly, vent), a mid-grey back (head, nape of neck and mantle) and dark-grey flight feathers and tail. Bill, legs and feet are also grey. Juveniles have a grey-brown mottled head and mantle and a light-brown throat and breast; otherwise they resemble adult birds.

Range, habitat, finding this species Click here for information on habitat and range The overall distribution of this species can be assessed, and specific locations where birds have been spotted can be found, based on individual sighting reports submitted by birdwatchers to ebird.org . The global distribution of the White-breasted Robin is available HERE . White-breasted Robins are endemic to the south-western corner of WA. They populate the (near-)coastal region around the south-western tip of WA, plus the near-coastal hills to the South-East of Perth, and a separate area along the West coast ranging from about Nambung NP to Beekeepers NR. While the northern population has a preference for coastal thickets, the southern White-breasted Robins are primarily found in open forests, often near water.

Sightings Click here for sighting information C. Pears reports finding White-breasted Robins regularly at Quindalup, WA. J. Greaves reports spotting White-breasted Robins in various locations in south-western WA, such as: Cheynes Beach, Albany, WA, in January 2015 and again in June 2020; Manjimup, WA, in March 2015; Bunker Bay, WA, in May 2015; Moses Rock, WA, in December 2016. M. Eaton found White-breasted Robins in Margaret River, WA, in April 2019.

Behaviour

Pairs of White-breasted Robins tend to keep one or more junior males from a previous clutch to help raise the next generation.
