A large flock of Pacific Black Ducks, together with a few other ducks, was observed by us feeding en masse on a recently ploughed fallow field with a lot of wheat chaff lying on the ground, by the side of Goran Lake, an ephemeral lake 30 km South of Gunnedah, NSW, in March 2023.

The dynamics of the flock were as found in other species feeding in large numbers, with birds walking along while feeding and sub-groups skipping from the end of the moving mass up to the front, before again being overtaken by others following from behind.
