Australian bird habitats:

Description of habitat |
Small farm dams can attract birds with drinking water and the possibility to take a bath. It helps if there is vegetation around the fringes where birds can hide and perch. Reeds and scrub can attract small birds to dams, such as e.g. different species of finches and fairy-wrens. Dams without fringe vegetation usually attract very few avian visitors. Exactly which bird species will come to a small farm dam largely depends on the surrounding habitats.
