Willow Tits are small Eurasian tits.
Males and females look alike.
Willow Tits have a black-and-white head. The cap and the nape
of the neck, as well as a small "bib", are sooty-grey; the ear
coverts and the sides of the neck are white.
The entire front, from chest to undertail coverts, is white to
off-white, with pale-grey sides. The back, wings
and tail are grey.
They have dark irises, a very short and thin dark-grey

Willow Tits are a sedentary species.
Their overall range encompasses basically the entire East-West
width of Europe and of Asia, with a northern limit near the
Arctic circle and a southern limit from the Mediterranean
North coast via Asia Minor into southern Asia, along
parts of the Himalayas to central and north-eastern China,
northern Korea, far-eastern Siberia (including Kamtchatka
and Sakhalin) and all of Japan.
Apart from one small area in mountainous central Italy,
in Europe Willow Tits can be found only north-eastward
of a line connecting England/Wales with the Bretagne
and the Cote d'Azure in France, EXCEPT Scotland, Ireland,
southern Greece and associated islands and the northern
Black Sea coastal fringe. In the North their range extends
to the Arctic circle and slightly beyond (but not to
islands in the Arctic).
At higher altitudes Willow Tits have a preference for
coniferous and birch forest, while at lower altitudes
they are also at home in mixed forest.
