Here a few photos taken by us at MN Valle del Encanto. This park is situated south-west of the town of Ovalle (the hometown of the Noble Prize-winning author Gabriela Mistral). The country in this part of Chile, away from the valleys of major rivers, is dominated by low, often thorny trees and scrubs, and lots of cacti. Most of the time the growth of vegetation is scarce, but everything comes to life briefly after rain. Not shown here is rock art found at the site.
